Sheriff should put in place the first year a very aggressive search for a sheriff posse. Requirements for being a posse member, the state already has process to determine weather you are a outstanding citizen. It is called a concealed weapons permit. If you have one or if you can qualify to have one you should be invited to apply to be on the sheriffs new posse. Should be looking for one hundred volunteer members in the first year. You would be working primarily in your community unless you are called in on an emergency response.

There are approximantly seventy thousand citizens living in Franklin county. When we talk about a posse first thing that comes to mind is people on horse back. This is not true a modern posse could be the back bone of your community. Think about this, in the year 2021 we are in serious trouble with drugs, crime, violence, and a lack of serious leadership. While there are plenty of well trained law enforcement personal no one seems to be able to grab the reins of this run away horse, and get it to go in a meaningful direction. That is where the right sheriff enters your future. A person that has a vision of using a new sheriffs posse in the most construtive manner ever seen.

If you have ever thought you could change things for the better and you were never allowed the chance to do so, here should be your chance, join the Franklin county sheriff’s posse. I believe there are many talanted men and women of all ages’ regardless of age, race, color, creed, or religion. Whether you are a Democrate, Republican, or Independent. This is a chance for everyone to get together and exchange ideas on how to better our community. This would make Franklin county the largest positive citizen involvement in law enforcement, possibly in North Carolina.

This is a volunteer posse your pay off is doing something positive for your community. Every year more posse members should be brought on to the sheriff department. Until you hit a number of four hundred. A certain number of these posse members will be well trained in law enforcement techniques. Depending on the degree of training you wish to take some of you will be riding in patrol cars with a deputy. I believe all future deputies should come from the sheriffs posse.

Break down of the posse the first year.

1. At least 25 persons with the fine art of horsemanship. Including a rideable horse, and trailer. Especially for emergency response team.

2. Pick up truck, motorcycles, and ATV’S.

3. Computer knowledge

4. Business background

5. Veterinary see animal control

6. Search and rescue by posse members

If you are retired or a veteran or are still working and looking to help serve your community apply to the new sheriffs posse.

Being a posse member some of you should be sworn volunteer deputy’s. Some may wish to be in the sheriffs posse and not be sworn in you can do either.
